Letter from the President

Dear Fellow Radiologic Technologists & Friends,

Hello! My name is Shelli Weddum and I am your newly installed President of the NSRT. I wear many hats, as many of you do, but my RT hat has many feathers to include my current position as an educator, clinical coordinator, and assistant director at Clarkson College and now to top it off, president of the NSRT. I am honored and privileged to serve on the NSRT Board and be a voice for the medical imaging professionals across the state of Nebraska.

I have several goals that I would like to accomplish during my term as president that include increased membership, continued advocacy for our profession, promotion of new leaders in the NSRT, and mentorship to students and registered technologists.

One of my first opportunities as president will be to attend the ASRT House of Delegates meeting in Orlando, FL in June 2017. This is an opportunity to network with other imaging professionals, learn more about the governing process, be a voice and representative for the NSRT, mentor a student delegate, and provide input for the ASRT curriculum and bylaw changes. There will be several other Nebraska representatives in attendance to include Tanya Custer, Randy Prouty, Karen Prouty, and student delegates, Rebecca Leider and Angelie Ring. The Nebraska state society will be well represented.

There are several educational opportunities scheduled over the course of the year. The Education Saturday event for fall will be held on September 30 and the winter event will be announced in December. The 2018 annual conference is scheduled for April 19 - 21 in Kearney, NE. I highly encourage you to attend; the educational events are an excellent opportunity to earn CEU’s as well as network with other medical imaging professionals.

I encourage you to contact me or any board member with any questions or concerns that you may have in regards to the NSRT or our profession. Finally, I challenge each of you to grow in your profession and add many colorful feathers to your hat.

Thank you again for this opportunity to serve.

Shelli Weddum R.T.(R)(T)
