In documenting sufficient continuing education credit, there is a difference for those individuals who are Limited Radiographer and Medical Radiographers renewing for license in the State of Nebraska and the radiologic technologists renewing for ARRT certification.
State of Nebraska Continuing Education Requirements for Licensure
All Medical Radiographers and Limited Radiographers practicing in Nebraska, must document at least twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education, related to Medical Radiography, every two (2) years. Part 16.09, of the State of Nebraska Regulations for Control of Radiation-Ionizing, describes continuing education requirements for persons Performing Medical Radiography. The State may audit any renewal application, to determine if compliance of continuing education requirements are being met by the individual. Those selected for audit shall be required to produce documentation of his or her attendance at those continuing education activities listed on the renewal application. Therefore, documentation of continuing education is essential. At a minimum, the documentation necessary for acceptance by the State must include:
- The Topic of the Program
- the name of the Provider
- The Location of theContinuing Education
- the Detail(s) of the Program
- The Number of Hours Received for the Program
The person must attend the complete continuing education course in order to get credit for it. Partial credit will not be provided. One hour (fifty to sixty minutes) of attendance equals one (1.0) hour of credit. The program must be of at least one (1.0) hour of credit to be accepted by the State of Nebraska. The topic and/or objectives must be related to Medical Radiography, which may include, but is not limited to: Mammography, MRI, Computed Tomography, Cardiovascular Technology, Quality Management, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, Ultrasound, Medical Dosimetry and Bone Densitometry.
